Total Duration

Normal Route 18/20 Days.

Trekking Grade

Makalu Base Camp Trek is the most popular trekking amongst the solitary trekkers that offers an outstanding opportunity to explore high altitude landscapes, snow-clad landscapes, and ethnic Himalayan lifestyle. Makalu (8,485 m) is the fifth highest mountain in the whole world. Makalu Base Camp trek takes you over the remote areas of eastern Nepal.

The trek starts from Num (1,560m) after driving from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar and Tumligtar to Chichira. The forests and terraced farms route take you to the Barun River and crossing the river will take you to Makalu Barun National Park. You will be amazed after seeing the wild animals and vegetation. Makalu Base Camp trekking is perfect for all those adventure seekers with the desires to experience the amazing and wonderful natural beauty. While trekking through different villages you will see the lifestyle of different ethnic groups, cultured peoples, outstanding Himalayan range and other natural beauties. The best time to trek on Makalu Base Camp is during March-May and September-November.

Before going to Makalu Base Camp you should know that there are some restricted places for which you will require the permit. So as a trekking agent we recommend you instead of going by owning you should go on this through a Trekking agent of Nepal. You can bring some chocolates, water bottles, a camera for capturing the memorable events and umbrella for protection from the weather. For more, in a few places, there is no any shelter for humans so camping is required. The trekking agency will provide you all the requirements but if you like you can bring your own warm sleeping bag, thermos for storing hot water and other more small kinds of stuff.
